About Me
Nick Riehlmann
Psychotherapist
Nick Riehlmann is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over nine years of experience working as a psychotherapist. After receiving his graduate degree at Tulane University in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, he worked in a variety of clinical settings including inpatient hospitalization, incarceration, residential substance abuse facilities, and group practice. He then moved to Chicago in 2018 where he has practiced as a full-time psychotherapist ever since.
He has a particular interest and expertise in working with those struggling with depression, anxiety, addictions/recovery maintenance, stress management, or life transitions. He also works through a behavioral therapy lens to help with establishing and maintaining habits for weight loss/management and healthy lifestyle counseling. Nick has helped hundreds of individuals (re)discover greater satisfaction, enhanced purpose and meaning, and sustained contentment in their lives.
Nick approaches the therapeutic process through a compassionate and collaborative framework. He tailors the therapeutic process to meet each client’s specific needs, and he creates a safe and judgment-free space for his clients. Though Nick often incorporates a variety of therapeutic approaches in his work, he is particularly oriented towards Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. He has also completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which he uses as a basis for his work with couples. His style emphasizes mindfulness, self-compassion, reflection, and a strong therapeutic relationship as key components of his practice.
